Embark on a loop walk to Col Plö Alt, taking you through the heart of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park
Head back to the Gardenacia chair lift. Retrace yesterday’s steps for a kilometre or so before breaking off onto trail no. 11, which cuts a straight line through the heart of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park. With no sign of any cable cars or mountain huts, this quiet trail feels like a million miles away from civilization. Follow the rocky, ascending path for a couple of kilometres and come to the Col Plö Alt, a plateau at 2,649m with panoramic mountain views. Descend steeply to grassy meadows frequented by grazing horses and marmots. Return to La Villa by the chair lift. Enjoy another hearty dinner full of traditional South Tyrolean specialities at your hotel restaurant.
Today you may be walking past a few different areas where cows graze. Although generally very docile and used to walkers, keep your distance and never turn your back on a cow that is behaving strangely or aggressive. Be particularly vigilant around cows with calves.
Watch the short term local weather forecasts. Avoid high altitude hiking when the weather is bad. There are plenty of trails in the valleys, that allow you to reach a village quickly if bad weather sets in.
