In rainy weather, the narrow trails can be muddy and slippery. Make sure to wear closed and sturdy footwear with good grip.
You must be confident walking at heights and sure-footed. Keep a close eye on the weather forecast and don’t go into the mountains if a storm is predicted.

0.0 km – With your back to the tourist information centre, TURN RIGHT and follow the road past the church.
0.1 km – At Hotel Mathiesn, TURN RIGHT onto Piccardweg and follow the descending road.
0.3 km – At the “Mahdstuhllift” bus stop, BEAR RIGHT and leave the village. Follow the signs for Ramolhaus and the red and white markers of the Ötztaler Urweg for around 8 km, continue along the ascending mountain path until you reach the Ramolhaus Hut. Ignore the paths that branch off to the left and right. You will pass paths heading towards Beilstein, Lehnerkar, the Küppelehütte and Piccardbrücke.
7.2 km – Walk under the wires for the goods cable car. Shortly after, you’ll pass the turn-off for Langtalereckhütte.
7.6 km – You have reached the Ramolhaus Hut and ascended to an altitude of 3000 metres.

We recommend wearing hiking boots that are well broken-in, plus a rain jacket and waterproof trousers in wet weather, as well as taking sun cream and a hat on nicer days.
