Hike across the Ramoljoch Pass to Vent
Embark on a challenging day, crossing the Ramoljoch Pass and ascent to Vent.
Your walk ends with the most challenging section of the Ötztaler Urweg, taking you right up into the mountains.
From the Ramolhaus Hut, you’ll make the steep ascent on gravel paths, rocky terrain and up a few sets of steps with safety ropes to reach Ramoljoch at 3187m. As you descend into the climbing village of Vent, enjoying spectacular views of the Ötztal glacier and the Similaun mountain.
This is an alpine route that requires you to be experienced in mountain hiking, be surefooted and have a head for heights. It can only be undertaken in dry, stable weather conditions and when visibility is good.

Only start this leg if the weather conditions are very good and forecast to remain absolutely stable. This leg cannot be undertaken in rainy or foggy conditions, as it can be difficult to maintain your sense of direction and the rope-guided sections can be very slippery.
Check the latest weather information (for example by asking at your accommodation or the local tourist information centre) and be on the lookout for changes in the weather.
For your safety, you must be confident walking at heights and steady on your feet.
Concentrate on what you’re doing and keep your eyes on the path. Make sure to wear closed and sturdy footwear with good grip. You will be crossing a number of fields that hold livestock (including cows, sheep and horses). Always close gates when you’ve entered and exited the field. Keep away from the animals. Do not attempt to pet or feed them. Look out for any diversion signs in fields that contain cows with calves or bulls. Do not attempt to cross fields where such diversions are in place. Follow the diversion until you re-join the normal path. You are responsible for your own safety. Know your limits and follow signs and instructions at all times. Allow yourself plenty of time.
From the Ramolhaus Hut, you’ll be without a mobile phone signal for a number of hours. Ask the staff at the Ramolhaus Hut if the route to Ramoljoch is free of snow.
