From Gairlochy follow the shore of Loch Lochy on forest tracks through land owned by the Cameron clan. Achnacarry was home to one of the toughest commando training camps, and the nearby museum highlights the remarkable conditions they endured. After Clunes the road continues on fire tracks above Loch Lochy all the way to South Laggan and the locks.
There is a wonderful pub and seafood restaurant on a moored barge at Laggan Locks called the Eagle Inn; great for an afternoon pint or an evening meal. Your accommodation is generally a mile or so from the locks.
For those overnighting in Invergarry, you may have already opted to pre-book a taxi transfer with us (recommended) from Laggan Locks to your accommodation in Invergarry - wait at the Eagle Inn and they will collect you at your agreed time.
For those who have opted to walk from Laggan to Invergarry please use our included route on the Macs app: http://your.macsadventure.com/s/JJKxP - PLEASE DO NOT WALK ALONG THE BUSY A82 ROAD. IF YOU MUST WALK VIA THE A82 THEN ENSURE YOU USE THE GRASS VERGES AWAY FROM THE ROAD.
There are no immediate taxi companies operating in the area (the local operator Great Glen Travel have informed us they are not operating in 2022). so If you want an ad-hoc taxi you may need to call a cab from Spean bridge (details in your info pack). Be warned - it may take you a long time to get collected/it may be very expensive and it also may not be possible at all depending on their schedules.
Alternatively, you could catch a Citylink bus that passes through Laggan Locks to Invergarry village (check timetables @ https://www.citylink.co.uk/)
