0.00 km - The blue pub is behind you and you are looking in the direction of the sea. TURN RIGHT and follow the main road for 10m. Then TURN SLIGHTLY RIGHT and you'll leave the main road. This road is more quiet and goes parallel to the main road.
0.70 km - BEAR RIGHT at the Y-junction. You'll walk through a neigbourhood.
0.80 km - You reach a dead-end road but still go STRAIGHT ON. The street is walkable for pedestrians.
1.50 km - There is a yellow walking man waymarker to your left-hand side. Go STRAIGHT ON.
1.90 km - You reach the main road again. Follow the road STRAIGHT ON and be careful with the passing cars.
3.20 km - Leave the main road again and TURN SLIGHTLY RIGHT. You are walking on a gravel path now and the road goes uphill.
3.60 km - Step over a little stone wall infront of you when the gravel path ends. Keep going STRAIGHT ON and follow the path through the grass.
3.90 km - Go through the gate and still follow the trail through the grass STRAIGHT ON. 10m onwards there is another gate that you have to go through.
4.50 km - There is a gate to your right-hand side. Ignore this and follow the path STRAIGHT ON.
5.20 km - Ignore the path to your left-hand side. Follow the path uphill STRAIGHT ON. After 700m you have to go through a metal gate again.
7.80 km - Step over the little stone wall and go STRAIGHT ON down the single trail through the wood. In 200m there will be another little stone wall you need to cross.
8.30 km - You have to step over another stone wall. Immediately behind the wall you have to TURN RIGHT and the path goes uphill. You can see a green arrow as a waymarker for your way to Ballyvaughan. When it goes uphill you might have to climb over some stones but don't worry, you are on the right track! In 100m you'll see the next waymarker with the green arrow in front of you. TURN LEFT and follow the trail through the wood. Pay attention to the stones and trees as the trail is very narrow.
9.10 km - You walk over a little metal bridge. Go STRAIGHT ON and follow the single trail.
10.40 km - Step over the little stone wall. You'll see a metal gate to your left-hand side. Ignore it and BEAR RIGHT. It is a path that is going very steeply uphill so take your time and enjoy the beautiful views on your way up the mountain.
11.10 km - You have reached the highest point for today. Step over the stone wall again and go STRAIGHT ON through the path on the grass. For the next kilometre you have to go through three more metal gates. There might be some cows in the fields but don't worry, they are friendly. Double check that you closed the gates after going through.
12.40 km - You see two gates in front of you. Take the one to your right-hand side and go STRAIGHT ON.
12.70 km - You have to go through another gate and there will be a way to your left-hand side. Ignore this path and go STRAIGHT ON to follow the path. in 400m you have to go through another gate again.
13.60 km - You reach a junction and there is a house to your left. Just go STRAIGHT ON and follow the tarmac road.
15.30 km - Follow the waymarker with the green arrow STRAIGHT ON and ignore the path to your right.
17.60 km - You reach a junction. TURN LEFT into the Street L10282 and follow the waymarker for the Burren Way.
18.90 km - There is the Burren College of Art to your right. If you have time you can go to visit the Gallery, it is open until 5:00 pm. Go STRAIGHT ON and follow the tarmac road.
19.50 km - TURN RIGHT and follow the waymarker with the yellow walking man.
20.00 km - TURN LEFT and step over the little stone wall. Follow the path. There is a field to your right-hand side.
20.40 km - You go through a little forest. Follow the single trail. After 100m you'll leave the forest already and have to cross some stones. TURN SLIGHTLY RIGHT and pay attention! You need to follow red arrows that are painted on the floor on the stones. Additional to the red arrows on the floor you can find white string on the bushes that show you the right way. After crossing the stones there will be another single trail through the wood and go STRAIGHT ON.
20.60 km - You reach another stone wall. Follow the path through the grass. In 10m you have to BEAR LEFT and follow the track. You need to climb over another stonewall.
20.70 km - Step over the little stonewall. In 10m TURN LEFT and follow the gravel path that in 100m turns into a tarmac road. You will pass a sports field to your right-hand side.
21.30 km - TURN RIGHT and go over a bridge. The sea is in front of you.
21.60 km - There is a fountain to your left and the Hyland's Burren Bar in front of you. Welcome to Ballyvaughan! Well done!
