Bamburgh was the site of King Oswald’s royal seat and the most familiar landmark is the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. From here the section of the St Oswald’s Way heads down to the popular seaside village of Seahorses where you can take boat trips to the nearby Farne Island.
Tip van de auteur
The route may differ slightly from what your guidebook/GPX tracks as the trail can change year on year - The St Oswald's Way also has a lot of flexibility on routes you can take each day - for example, there are sections where you may choose to walk along the beach depending on the weather/or due to the tide, sections may not be walkable. Please ensure to follow any diversions or route changes if you come across any along the way.

If there are any stretches of road walking and if there is no pavement or grass verge, please take extra care. The general rule is that you walk on the same side of the road as oncoming traffic, in order to avoid having your back directly to oncoming traffic. Be prepared to walk in single file and to stay as close to the side of the road as possible.
Please do not underestimate the difficulty of walking in Sand. This can turn an easy walk into a moderate walk if you walk large sections of it.
Please ensure you respect the sea and any tide timings as you walk.
There may be sections where you will be walking through fields containing livestock. Be vigilant and respectful of all animals.

Uitrusting
Sturdy hiking boots, warm clothes, and a waterproof/wind-break layer are all required. The weather can change quickly in England so be sure to take all equipment even if the weather looks okay. Walking poles will be a big advantage on some of these ascents and descents.
Ensure your phone is fully charged; if you doubt the battery will last throughout the hike, it might be beneficial to bring a power bank.
please ensure you always ensure you have plenty of water and emergency food (energy bars/trail mix) with you at all times.
