Porthallow to Mawnan Smith
A day packed with water crossings and iconic beaches on this penultimate section from Penzance to Falmouth.
Follow the trail past Nare Point with your first views of Falmouth. Cross the river by ferry at Helford Passage. A timetable is available in all the local shops. If there is nobody around it can operate on a request basis and you have to display a yellow disc at the slipway to alert the ferryman. After your crossing, a grassy bank leads to Trebah Beach. Here the views across the picturesque Helford River are a highlight. There are beautiful gardens at Glendurgan with sub-tropical plants so its worth a visit if you have time (make sure to check the garden opening times).
If you are overnighting in Mawnan Smith, follow your accommodation directions and guidebook from Port Saxon inland. Otherwise, you'll continue on the next stage directly to Falmouth.
