Predominantly in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the two or three days it takes to walk this section will take you across the Pennines, the great watershed of England. Wild moorland and expansive views are the reward for your efforts as you walk across this enchanting landscape.

Leaving Kirkby Stephen you will cross the Eden River and continue to Hartley village. Followed by a long ascent to Hartley Fell, from there you have multiple options (check your guidebook there are other routes available).

Difficult weather conditions including driving rain and gale force winds made a less than perfect walk. Quite a challenge.
