A great walk to the Lac d'Arpitettaz, high in the Anniviers Valley with views of the 'Imperial Crown', the name given to the 4,000m peaks which surround Zinal and the Val d'Anniviers. This walk does have a tough ascent, one section with chains to help you on a certain rocky section. If you are uncomfortable with using chains or some light scrambling then this walk is probably best avoided.
For Jack: This walk will appear on two different trips, once rated easy-moderate and one rated moderate. The walk to the Lac and back will be on the option for the easy-moderate tour and the whole loop via Roc de la Vache will be the option for the moderate tour. Could you highlight this in the route notes? i.e. once you get to the lake turn back for an easy-moderate option, for a more challenging walk, continue on the trail...
Take a picnic to enjoy on the shores of the lake. There is a shop in Zinal where you can pick up supplies, or alternatively your hotel may be able to provide a packed lunch for you. Be sure to request this upon check-in.
Good waterproof boots are a must and walking poles are recommened. Make sure to bring plenty of water and a snack or packed lunch.
