Head for the Siriuskogel, Bad Ischl’s local hill at approx. 600 metres above sea-level. From the top, enjoy views over Bad Ischl from the panoramic watch tower. Take the cable-car to Katrin Alm at 1,400m  for a taste of the high-mountain life. Ascend on foot to the Katrinkogel (1,544m) and the Elferkogel (1,603m) where you can enjoy spectacular 360 views of the Salzkammergut landscapes. Treat yourself to some homemade Kaiserschmarrn (hot fluffy pancake served with home-made jam and icing sugar) at the Katrin Alm mountain hut, before descending back to Bad Ischl.

Safety information

The ascent to the summit of Katrin and Elferkogel requires surefootedness. If you want to skip this section, take the Katrin cable car to the mountain station and enjoy the panorama view from there.

In rainy weather, the trails can be muddy and slippery. Take footwear with good tread that gives you support.

Inquire about the current weather conditions (e.g. in your accommodation or at the local tourist information office) and watch the weather changes. Pay attention to any diversion information.

Please do not enter the pastures despite the diversion sign and follow the diversion until you are back on the regular path.
