Part 3 of the 2-peak hike on Bad Ischl's local mountain, walk from the Valley Cable Car Station to Bad Ischl
Distance 1.9 km
Head for the Siriuskogel, Bad Ischl’s local hill at approx. 600 metres above sea-level. From the top, enjoy views over Bad Ischl from the panoramic watch tower. Take the cable-car to Katrin Alm at 1,400m for a taste of the high-mountain life. Ascend on foot to the Katrinkogel (1,544m) and the Elferkogel (1,603m) where you can enjoy spectacular 360 views of the Salzkammergut landscapes. Treat yourself to some homemade Kaiserschmarrn (hot fluffy pancake served with home-made jam and icing sugar) at the Katrin Alm mountain hut, before descending back to Bad Ischl.
From the valley station, you walk back the same way you came to the bridge by the tennis courts.
When you get to the bridge, BEAR LEFT and walk past the sports field. At the fork in the road BEAR RIGHT on the narrower path and follow the Traun River, along its left bank. CROSS a small bridge and pass the playground on the right, always following the course of the Traun river. The promenade finally leads you back to the Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Bridge.
