Following a short transfer, start from the Valparola Pass walking along panoramic trails to Corvara.
Distance 16 km
A morning transfer (30 mins) brings you to the Valparola Pass and the start of your first hike. Follow varied panoramic trails through meadows, past Alpine lakes and along rocky paths at the foot of Setsas mountain. The trail is undulating until you reach the open grassy expanse of the Pralongia plateau. Enjoy extraordinary views of the peaks and valleys of the Val Badia and the Marmolada glacier. It’s the perfect spot for a break before a pleasant descent to Corvara past grazing cows and ancient farming huts.
Stop at Rifugio Pralongià to rest your legs and admire the Col di Lana and Marmolada in the distance.
Today you may be walking past a few different areas where cows graze. Although generally very docile and used to walkers, keep your distance and never turn your back on a cow that is behaving strangely or aggressive. Be particularly vigilant around cows with calves.
Watch the short term local weather forecasts. Avoid high altitude hiking when the weather is bad. There are plenty of trails in the valleys, that allow you to reach a village quickly if bad weather sets in.
