Ascend onto the Wolds, where the vistas continue to impress; you'll pass a few hill forts as you make your way to Birdlip.

Continue following the escarpment for much of this section, and along the way enjoy several notable natural and man-made sites. The distinctive Devil’s Chimney and the ancient site of Crickley Hill are both fascinating. Birdlip village has a traditional country inn.

Magnificent views. Terrain gradual gradients, the easiest stage of the whole walk so far but the views as good as any anywhere. Beware there is an extremely dangerous road crossing at the Hot Air Balloon pub and a equally dodgy walk of about 100 metres up the road into Birdlip without a verge with cars flying down the hill, that's if you are staying at the Royal George Hotel.
