Not long after leaving the beach this morning you will arrive at the pretty town of Caminha, the last Portuguese city of your walk, located at the mouth of the Miño River. Take a short ferry crossing to Camposancos where you begin the Spanish part of your journey through Galicia.

Arriving in A Guarda, explore its port, bustling town square with its impressive clock tower and the Church of Santa Maria.

A short walk and a neat boat trip. The neolithic "city" on top of the hill in A Guarda is definitely worth the 40 min climb (find the walking track). Amazing place and brilliant views from the museum at the top. We finished here and it would have been helpful to know that the ferry start time depends on the tide - and is not ever early.

This hotel (Vila da Guarda) is the second in 4 days (first being L’aranjeira in Viana do Costelo) where inadequate breakfast facilities meant we had to wait 40 minutes for a table despite being dead on the dot for the start. Not good for walkers wanting to make an early start. A Guarda an unprepossessing town.
