The Col de la Seigne lies high above Refuge des Mottets, where you leave France for Italy. Follow the trail as it descends to Rifugio Elisabetta and then to La Visaille, from where you walk on quiet country roads and trails into Courmayeur. This is a variant, ideal for those who do not want to take the bus from La Visaille to Courmayeur and who prefer a longer walk.  It is the same as the standard route, 'Les Chapieux/Refuge des Mottets to La Visaille via Col de la Seigne and Rifugio Elisabetta', except you are walking the rest of the way to Courmayeur instead of taking the bus from La Visaille. For an even tougher route, please see seperate route named 'Les Chapieux/Refuge de Mottets to Courmayeur via Col de la Seigne and Col Checrouit'

This is a long day and should only be attempted by the strongest walkers, and if time is on your side. If you are staying in Les Chapieux, we highly recommend taking the shuttle bus from Les Chapieux to Refuge des Mottets.
