Today you can look forward to a delightful walk in the Kamnik Alps to the Ceska Koca mountain hut.

Embark on a loop walk up to Ceska Koca. Your walk begins the the town of Jezersko, follow the well sign posted trail into the forest where your ascent beings. The trail will be indicated by red and white circles on the trees and signs to Hisa Cocka

The first couple hours of the walk will be a tough ascent ending with a section which isn’t for the faint of heart, you will need to climb over ladders and sturdy yourself on steel cables for the last section up to the hut and you will need to retrace your steps down this section during your descent. The terrain on the walk is quite rough, and the last section is exposed with sheer drops, ladders and metal wires.

After a lunch and bathroom break at the hut you can continue the loop walk by descending back down the same route and vering right at the cross roads before making your way back through farm land and past the picturesque Shepherds Lake which has a conveniently situated Restaurant.

Author’s recommendation

Towards the end of the walk there is a nice lakeside restaurant if you wish to stop for a coffee and kremsnite.

The hut has a restaurant where you can try some traditional Slovenia food (sausage and soup) and some schnapps (and they accept card)

Safety information

Weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains - always be prepared and carry appropriate clothing; warm as well as waterproof layers, hat and gloves etc. Please see your information pack for a detailed packing list.

There are some ladders and sheer drops on this section, therefore I would only recommend this walk if you have a head for heights.

Lovely walk with great views quite easily earned. Hot day and lots of shade on ups and downs which made walk very pleasant without detracting from the views.

Description of this walk is correct - two hours of brutal ascent. However, it’s worth it! The reward is coffee and apple cake at Ceska Hoca.
