Start today’s walk directly from the hotel in Sölden. Hike through the narrow Kühtrainschlucht Gorge to Zweislstein, where you will join the E5 Trail. Ascend to the ’Sahnestüberl’, a rustic mountain hut and the ideal spot for a break. Indulge in some home-made Kaiserschmarrn - chopped, fluffy, warm pancakes served with icing sugar and home-made jam or compote– absolutely delicious! Follow the rushing Gurgle Ache river through Alpine pastures to the small and exclusive ski resort of Obergurgl.

Safety information

Watch the short term local weather forecasts. Avoid high altitude hiking when the weather is bad. There are plenty of trails in the valleys, that allow you to reach a village quickly if bad weather sets in.

Tips and hints

Enroute

Waterfall Zwieselstein / Timmeltalbach: With a drop of 70 m the visitor is offered a magical spectacle of nature, especially when the sun is shining.

Ötztal Alps Nature Park: The Ötztal Alps is one of the largest mountain groups in the Eastern Alps and, in terms of area, is the largest mountain group with areas over 3000m in the Alps.

There are 67 large and small glaciers in the nature park, which corresponds to about 18% of the area. Skiers Sölden and Obergurgl are known as snow-reliable ski resorts. Through the two developed glaciers Rettenbachferner and Tiefenbachferner, the ski season is here from November to early May.
