Today you must can choose between either this route, the recommended option that climbs via Col Chécrouit to Courmayeur or the easier option of continuing past the snout of the huge Glacier du Miage to Visaille.  From here you can catch the shuttle bus into Courmayeur, or continue to walk on valley trails to Courmayeur. For this easier option, please see the entry for 'Les Chapieux/Refuge des Mottets to Courmayeur via La Visaille' and follow from Rifugio Elisabetta.

This  route which goes via the Col Checrouit, is a breath-taking balcony walk with some brilliant mountian views. It is not advisable to take this route in poor weather conditions.
