This walk is easier than the those of the previous days allowing you time to enjoy Swaledale from the bottom of the valley.  You can take the time to enjoy the towns of Gunnerside and Reeth as you follow the pleasant walk along the River Swale through fields and gravel paths.

Author’s recommendation

You should celebrate at the end of your walk with an ice cream from Reeth’s ice cream parlour, located at the bottom of the town centre!

Tips and hints

Gunnerside offers some lunch options or you can carry on straight to Reeth for a late lunch at the end of your walk.  Otherwise, a packed lunch or snack is advised.

Find the coffin stone on Ivelet Bridge just outside Muker.  The coffin stone is a stone structure dating back to medeival times on the north east side of the bridge.  It was used by pall bearers to rest the coffin as they would take the deceased from Muker to the church in Grinton prior to the Muker church being built in 1580.  Both the coffin stone and the bridge itself are both listed structures. http://www.outofoblivion.org.uk/record.asp?id=312

Start

Across the street from the church in Muker at the rest benches. (252 m)
