Marazion to Mousehole

Safety information
You will spend some time walking along smaller roads where pavements are not available, take care and keep an eye for oncoming traffic.
When in Mousehole take note of any warning signs when exploring the harbour.
There are plenty of amenities on the route, should you require to purchase food or water during the walk. There are also number of toilet facilities available throughout.
Tips and hints
You will pass a number of cafes and inns on the route should you require a refreshment to keep you going.
There are also other options in Mousehole.
The bus runs regularly between Mousehole and Penzance bus station, before you board another bus to Marazion. Ensure you have the correct change for each bus as you pay the driver directly.
Mousehole is pronounced Mouzel.

Turn-by-turn directions
0.00km – Starting facing St Michael’s Mount outside Godolphins Arms in the centre of Marazion. TURN RIGHT following the main road out of Marazion.
0.10km – BEAR LEFT on road signed South West Coastal Path (SWCP) by the café down to the seashore (option to walk along beach if low tide.) Continue following the sand path parallel with the road until you reach a small metal footbridge beside the concrete road bridge.
0.70km – BEAR LEFT after the bridge following the sand path- there is both a higher path and lower, take either.
1.00km – Continue STRAIGHT ON promenade or beach, keeping the sea to your left. When you reach another café pass to the left of it until you reach the Station House. You will notice a sign for the Penzance Coastal Path.
2.30km – Go STRAIGHT ON through Long Rock station and carpark, continuing to follow the Penzance coastal path into Penzance passing the bus station.
4.80km – Continue STRAIGHT ON to walk down a ‘no entry’ road with a large red buoy on your right, through the carpark until you reach the road.
5.00km – TURN LEFT at the main road onto the promenade and over the bridge. Continue following the road passing the Dolphin Tavern and Bathing Pool until you reach a green statue of a sailor.
7.10km – BEAR LEFT following the road around, you will pass an Inn to your left. Continue left over the bridge until you meet the main road. Warrens Bakery is to your right if you are feeling peckish.
7.20km – TURN LEFT at the main road around past the fish market and harbour following the road and the sign for Mousehole.
8.00km – Continue STRAIGHT ON main road at Lower Green Road taking the small alleyway parallel to the road until reaching a road to your left just before some road signs.
8.10km – TURN LEFT down to the concrete path with foliage each side. Check out St Michaels Mount in the distance and follow this until the path meets a road.
8.60km – TURN LEFT following the promenade into Mousehole centre passing a café and the Old Coast Guard Hotel.
10.20km – TURN LEFT down the alleyway between houses opposite the garage following the path down to the right until you reach the harbour.
10.40km – The route finishes at the junction with North Street before the Ship Inn. The bus stop back to Penzance is here.

As this is a coastal walk where the weather can turn quickly. Prepare for all types of weather and pack some waterproof clothing.
This walk covers a variety of terrain including sandy paths, beaches and tarmac paths therefore comfortable walking shoes are required. The route is relatively flat and walking poles should not be required.
