Turn-by-turn directions
0.00km – START POINT – On the road at the Place Jean Eynard looking towards the Sentier des Ocres. Stand with the car park behind you facing the ochre cliffs. BEAR RIGHT up the path in front of the Café de L’Ocrier, signposted Sentier des Ocres.
0.10km – After passing the toilets on your right, walk past the car park, the small souvenir shops and the water fountain and continue STRAIGHT ON following the signs for Sentier des Ocres.
0.20km – Arriving at the entrance to the Sentier des Ocres, pay your entrance fee and enter the walkway.
0.25km – Follow the boardwalk to enjoy impressive views of the ochre cliffs, the remains of the former ochre quarries of the town. Descend the steps.
0.35km – After crossing the boardwalk bridge, you will note the route markers as there are 2 options for this walk. For the shorter option, follow the yellow arrows and for the longer option, follow the double red arrows. These notes document the longer version. At this stage both versions follow the same route so continue to follow the marked trail as it winds through the forest below the cliffs.
0.60km – At the point the path splits. If you want a shorter walk, follow the yellow arrows. To continue with the longer walk documented here, follow the red arrows.
0.70km – Enter a clearing and enjoy the dramatic views of the red and orange cliffs. Continue to follow the double red arrows through the forest.
0.95km – At this point, the path rejoins the shorter (yellow) trail. Follow the arrows up the hill, taking time to relax on the benches placed thoughtfully by the path.
1.50km – At the entrance booth to the Sentier des Ocres your walk is complete.
