(Please note if you have seven or more walking days, you will be following the alternative option, which splits the Drumnadrochit to Loch Laide walk into two sections.)

From Drumnadrochit you endure a 1.5 mile section on the busy A82 (on the pavement) before climbing steadily on the path through woodland and forestry. Eventually the climbing comes to an end and you wave goodbye to Loch Ness.

From Loch Laide you follow a minor road for a few miles before braching off through the forest at Blackfold.  From Blackfold the descent towards Inverness and the Moray Firth begins. Rejoin the Caledonian Canal 1 mile before the end of the Great Glen Way. The way turns right follows the River Ness into the centre of Inverness and Inverness Castle, which marks the end of your wonderful journey across Scotland. If you have walked all the way from Drumnadrochit you will be very pleased to reach the end of the day's walk!
