The bus will take you to the Kaunergrat Nature Park Building just behind Fliess. Take some time to view the interesting exhibition. Then you can firstly walk through the Piller Moor and over gravel paths down into the valley, continuing along the Pillerbach to Wenns.

Author’s recommendation

Pack mosquito repellent - there are a lot of mosquitoes in the moor. You can shorten your trip by using the bus stops that are found at regular intervals along the route.

Safety information

Today you may be walking past a few different areas where cows graze. Although generally very docile and used to walkers, keep your distance and never turn your back on a cow that is behaving strangely or aggressive. Be particularly vigilant around cows with calves.

Always allow enough time for your hiking tour. The specified walking times only refer to actual time spent walking. Breaks for photos and a rest need to be added to the specified times.

Make sure you find out about current weather conditions and keep an eye on weather changes. Thunderstorms can gather very quickly in the Alps. At the start and end of the season, there may be remaining snow on the passes.

Do not leave the designated hiking trails!

Tips and hints

Breaks can be taken in the village of Piller or at the snack bar at the Piller fish pond. Opening hours can vary so be sure to carry some food/snacks with you.
