Overlooking Loch Lomond, Ben Lomond, the most southernly "Munro" (Scottish mountains over 3000 ft) is one of the most popular of Scotland's mountains.
Rowardennan serves as an excellent base for hill climbers wanting to bag the most southernly Munro. If you are fit and able then an extra night, which would need to be pre-booked in Rowardennan, would allow you enough time to reach the 974m (3,193ft) summit.
Offering excellent views over Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park it is worth the tough climb. If you do wish to take on this side trip, please be adequately prepared for the arduous nature of hill climbing in Scotland.
