Loch Lomond is Britain's largest body of fresh water. 24 miles long, up to 5 miles wide and at its deepest point, you would need to dive down 190 metres to reach the bottom.

Loch Lomond is Britain's largest body of fresh water. 24 miles long, up to 5 miles wide and at its deepest point, you would need to dive down 190 metres to reach the bottom.

If required Loch Lomond can, and often, supplies central Scotland with 450 million litres of water a day. This lowers the levels of Britain’s largest body of fresh water by only 6mm!

The Loch is filled with fascinating wildlife such as 40lb giant pike, a growing number of otters, many breeding birds and a metre-long blood sucking jawless fish called a lamprey. Lampreys have large sucker-like mouths, that thankfully leave swimmers and paddlers alone as they are only interested in other fish.
