A ramshackle shelter with a fire and sleeping platform offering shelter for hill walkers
Rowchoish Bothy set the scene for the 2013 film "Under the Skin" starring Scarlet Johannsson but the bothy has been around much longer than that. There were nine families living in the area in 1759 and the bothy originally served as a byre (cowshed) for the nearby Rowchoish Cottage. Families lived in the cottage until the 1930's before it was abandoned. The byre was lovingly renovated into Rowchoish Bothy in 1965 by the Scottish Rights of Way Society.
