Walk to Sölden
Autorentipp
The first part of this leg is spectacular but challenging, kicking off with a 700-metre ascent. For your safety, you must have a head for heights.
Once you’ve arrived back in the valley, there are multiple points along the Ötztaler Talstraße where you can hop on a bus to shorten the walk.

In rainy weather, the narrow trails can be muddy and slippery. Make sure to wear closed and sturdy footwear with plenty of grip.
For the first part of this leg in particular, you must be confident walking at heights and steady on your feet. Concentrate on what you’re doing and keep your eyes on the path. The first section to Huben, you’ll cross a pedestrian bridge suspended at a height of around 200 metres.
Keep a close eye on the weather forecast and don’t go into the mountains if a storm is predicted.

5.7 km – The small hunting lodge is the highest point of today’s leg. Follow the signs for Huben, first along a narrow path then later along a forest trail that winds its way downhill.
Warning: From here, the route takes you very steeply down a narrow path. When wet, this section can be particularly slippery due to roots and stones.
9.5 km – Once you’ve reached the main road and the Ötztaler Ache in the valley, keep to the left of the river and the road, following the path further and further into the valley towards Sölden.
12.0 km – After Bruggen, TURN RIGHT and cross the main road via the underpass before following the trail towards Aschbach.
13.2 km – At Aschbach, just before the bridge over the Ache, take the path to the LEFT to the bus stop and cross the main road very carefully. Follow the exit sign for Aschbach to the RIGHT, walking towards the welcome sign. When you reach the sign, TURN LEFT and follow the “Radwanderweg Sölden” trail to the LEFT.
14.3 km – At the hairpin bend by the stream, follow the signpost for Sölden to the RIGHT. Keep following the path towards Rechenau and continue on the footpath into the centre of Sölden.
