Walk along Starkenberg's Panorama Trail and discover Castle Starkenberg
A transfer will pick you up and take you to Nassereith (approx. 15 mins) from where you will pick up the Starkenberg Panorama Trail. Ascend to the viewpoint over the Gurgl Valley. Continue to Schloss Starkenberg; a restaurant and brewery.
Enjoy a locally brewed, refreshing beer in the garden before continuing on the final 3km to the Alpine town of Imst. Sitting at 826m above sea-level, this traditionally Austrian town is a delight.

Watch the short term local weather forecasts. Avoid high altitude hiking when the weather is bad. There are plenty of trails in the valleys, that allow you to reach a village quickly if bad weather sets in.

Salvesenklamm - Creepy witch stories entwine around the mystical Salvesenklamm. If you believe the legend, witches performed their wild dances here some time ago. The today's stage leads over a bridge with wonderful deep view to the Salvesenbach, which rushes far below in the deeply cut gorge to valley.

The Rosengarten Gorge: Follow the Schinderbach to 1.5 km from the Blue Grotto to the Johanneskirche through this gorge, bursting with impressive flora and fauna.

0.0km – Today’s hike begins at Postplatz bus stop in Nassereith. TURN RIGHT at the Posthotel and follow the main road for a few metres. After a few metres, TURN LEFT onto the footpath (signposted: Starkenberger Panoramaweg; Mühlsprung/Kneippanlage). Cross the small wooden bridge and then TURN LEFT to follow the stream.
0.85km - At the Kneipp water pool with the nature playground, TURN RIGHT and cross the stream over the small wooden bridge. After the bend, TURN LEFT and follow the Starkenberger panorama trail towards Imst.
1.1km - Shortly after the mouth of the two streams, TURN RIGHT at the information boards for the Starkenberger panorama trail (signposted: Obtarenz/Sinnesbrunn). After a few metres, a narrow trail branches off to the right of the road. BEAR RIGHT following this path towards Obtarenz. From here, continue following the well-marked Starkenberger panorama trail.
At the information boards, take a free hiker’s pass for the Starkenberger panorama trail and make sure to stamp it.
6.5km – At the bench, shortly after the ‘Waldrast’ Alpine Inn, follow the wider road descending to your LEFT.
8.1km – At the fork in the forest path with the road above the village of Obtarenz, keep RIGHT on the forest path.
8.4km – You’ll reach a small collection of houses. Continue STRAIGHT AHEAD then TURN RIGHT onto Alpeilweg.
8.6km – At the next junction, TURN LEFT and walk towards the meadow. Carefully cross the intersection and then TURN RIGHT at the gate.
8.8km – At the end of the collection of houses, BEAR RIGHT at the fork and follow the forest trail (signposted: Starkenberger Panoramaweg; Linserhof/Salvesenklamm)
12.0km – Keep to the right of the stream and head towards Lake Starkenberger/Brauerei Starkenberg.
12.4km – At the ‘Starkenberg’ stamp point, TURN RIGHT.
12.8km – At the bench by the ‘Europäischen Lärche’ information board, keep RIGHT heading towards Lake Starkenberger.
13.3km – Shortly after Lake Starkenberger, the path joins a road. TURN RIGHT here towards a dead-end/car park and continue on the forest path towards the forest (signposted: Starkenberger Panoramaweg; Hoch-Imst)
14.4km – At the next signpost before a gate, leave the Starkenberger panoramic trail and follow the path STRAIGHT AHEAD towards Imst-Zentrum, heading downhill through the gate. Follow the road downhill towards the centre.
15.1km – After Martinsbrunnen, continue STRAIGHT AHEAD for a short while, towards ‘Haus der Fastnacht’, past the woodshed and to the LEFT at the next junction. At the next junction with the main road, TURN LEFT once again.
15.3km - Today’s walk ends at Gasthof Hirschen bus stop in the centre of Imst.

In the morning take Bus 150 from Hotel Fernsteinsee to Nassereith Postplatz which departs at 8:02 or 11:02

Optional Bus in the afternoon: Take the bus from Imst to Hotel Auderer: Bus Number 1 from Sparkasse Bank to Brennbichler Straße (approx. 10 Min.) or Bus 4204 from the Train StationTerminal Post to Brennbichler
