Starting in the capital of Jersey, St Helier, you will follow clear and wide coastal paths, some small roads and the occasional dirt track. Pass through St Aubin, St Brelade and La Corbiere before you finish in La Pulente.

As there is no accommodation in La Pulente itself, you will take a bus back to either St Brelades or St Aubin (depending on where you are staying) and then take a bus back again the next morning to continue your walk. The bus number is the 22 and they run approx every 2 hours. Please make sure you check the most up-to-date timetables at https://www.libertybus.je/timetables/22. You will get off at the Red House Shops stop in St Brelade's.

Begin your day in the bustling, romantic harbour town of St Helier in the iconic Liberation Square. From St Helier follow the long curving coastline, passing through beautiful villages, dropping down to the beaches and rising up to enjoy the views from the clifftops. The path often overlooks military buildings and defences, a stark reminder of times less peaceful. It is hard to picture now as the island and its people live in quiet serenity. The village of St Aubin has plenty of cafes and shops in which to pick up some lunch before moving on up the cliffs for panoramic views of the island edge. St Brelade's Bay will open up before you, a satisfying curve to the shoreline, framed with small white buildings and an ancient church at its northernmost edge. Rising up once again, you will pass through a couple more beautiful villages before finishing in La Pulente.

Sicherheitshinweise

There is some clifftop walking, be very careful of loose rocks and do not go to close to the edge. When you do drop down to the beach, be aware of the tides.

There are some road crossings, always be aware of traffic and be sure to use a pavement/sidewalk where possible, where it isn’t walk on the right-hand side of the road,

Some of the ground can be uneven, with steep descents and muddy/boggy ground. Ensure you have suitable footwear and step cautiously where needed, the mud is especially tricky in wet weather.

Points of Interest

 Liberation Square

Liberation Square was developed in 1995 to mark the 50th Anniversary of Jersey's Liberation. To the north of the square stands the Pomme D’Or Hotel, which was used by the Nazis as their Headquarters during the Occupation. The hotel's original balcony was the focal point for celebrations when the island was liberated by British forces on May 9, 1945.

At the centre of Liberation Square is Philip Jackson’s sculpture depicting a group holding the Union Flag at the centre of a fountain. Twelve water jets in the pool symbolise Jersey's 12 parishes.

Elizabeth Castle

Built on a rocky islet in St Aubin’s Bay, Elizabeth Castle has defended Jersey for more than 300 years. You can take the amphibious Castle Ferry or walk out along the causeway at low tide. Explore Jersey’s history, climb the battlements dating back to the 1590s and experience history coming to life with live demonstrations and gunfire!

St Aubin

Curled around one of the island’s original harbours, the enchanting fishing village of St Aubin is a fascinating tangle of historic houses and steep streets leading to sea view panoramas. The main action is clustered along the promenade - the Bulwarks - where a lazy stroll will take you past restaurants with shaded alfresco courtyards and decks and bars with harbour views where you can enjoy a plate of local seafood washed down with a glass of crisp white wine or a pint of the island’s Liberation Ale.
