A short transfer will take you to the village of Sidyma this morning. Discover the little-explored ruins in the village which include remains from the Roman Imperial age including tombs, sarcophagi, bath, temple and church. You will then climb over a mountain pass, through a windswept and beautiful valley before a short descent, making your way to the village of Gey and the idyllic lighthouse hotel.

Be sure to have a good look around the ruins in Sidmya.

The heat and dehydration are the main risks on the Lycian Way, ensure you have at least two, preferably three litres of water per person per day, wear light and loose fitting clothing and a suitable sun hat. Factor 30 sun cream is recommended, particularly from May until the end of August.

There are some road crossings, always be aware of traffic and be sure to use a pavement/sidewalk where possible. Where it isn’t, walk on the right-hand side of the road in the direction of oncoming traffic.

Some of the ground can be uneven, with rocky/pebbly paths. Ensure you have suitable footwear and step cautiously when needed.

Much of the path is on clifftops and there has been some erosion, for this reason, the path is sometimes unclear, be careful of the drop and of loose rocks and edges to the cliffs.

Food and Drink

There are no stops for refreshments, make sure you bring what you need. The Lighthouse Hotel has a lunchtime al a carte menu.

Points of Interest

The visible ruins are not very well preserved and the site remains largely unexcavated. Interestingly, some of the remains such as boulders with inscriptions have been used as building materials for the village houses. Some of the sarcophagi and impressive monumental tombs are hidden amongst apple and pomegranate orchards. Other examples of remains include a crumbling theatre, bath, temple and church many of which are from the Roman and Lycian age.

The Lighthouse Hotel Views

This hotel is exquisite, and the view from the restaurant and the swimming pool is probably one of the best hotel views in the world!
