Les Chapieux/Refuge des Mottets to Rifugio Elisabetta

These maps and routes are designed to be used in conjunction with the TMB guidebook and IGN maps.

Distance: 15 / 10 km

Duration: 4.5 – 5 / 3 - 4 hrs

Ascent / Descent: 800/1004m / 260 m

Notes:

1. If you are staying in Les Chapieux you have the option of walking up the road or taking the shuttle. I would recommend not taking the bus as otherwise this is a very short day. If you would prefer a longer walk I would consider taking a longer route which explores La Ville des Glaciers (perhaps via Refuge Robert Blanc)

2. Your bags cannot be transferred to Rifugio Elisabetta so remember to pack your overnight things in your day pack and you will be reunited with your main bag the following day. 

Transport:

The shuttle from Les Chapieux to Mottets operates from approx. beginning of July to the end of August. Specific timetables are not available until the start of the Summer season. For more information, please visit the following website closer to the time of departure:

In June/September, when the shuttle is not operating, you should plan on walking. Alternatively, Taxi Besson are now offering a shuttle service between Les Chapieux and Les Mottets, by reservation.
