Wegbeschreibung
Your walk begins in Ilkley, the official starting point of the Dales Way. Start off on a pleasant introduction to the Dales way as you walk out of Ikley, the start point is at the southern end of the Old Bridge, where you will walk from gardens to the riverbank and through meadows to Addingham.
Peek inside St Peter's Church before continuing on the trail as it hugs to the river, crossing caravan parks and cow fields, diverted only to cross the busy B6160 to Farfield Friends' Meeting House.
The next stretch of walking is a little more precarious and take caution whilst walking down the B6160 (which has no pavement for this section) for oncoming traffic. Continue on to Bolton Abbey and enter the national park.
Take the footbridge at the eastern end of the ruins, follow the trail through the stretch of woodland, first on one side of the Wharfe and then along the western side know to the ramblers as the Cavendish Pavillion. Enter the Strid Wood to continue your walk and out the other side again and meet the Barden Aqueduct and Barden Bridge.
Classic Dales Way terrain leads you from Barden Bridge to Burnsall, serene and carefree as the trail is flat and easy, as you walk through Stangs Lane and Appletreewick to reach Burnsall.
