Sicherheitshinweise

Allow enough time to complete your walk as the times provided are solely walking times, and breaks have not been included.

Parts of the path are for shared use, for hikers and mountain bikers. Stay alert and make sure to make space for the other people using the trail.

Some of the fields may have cows in; they are not aggressive but take care not to startle them, and pass around them with a wide berth.

In early spring/summer there may still be patches of snow. Walk around where it is possible, and otherwise place your feet carefully and use walking poles if you have them.

Wegbeschreibung

Take the Gotschnabahn to the middle station to start today's walk.

0.0 km - After exiting the gondola, TURN RIGHT to the exit and CONTINUE STRAIGHT down the ramp to a T-junction. TURN LEFT at the next opportunity and follow the sign towards Schwarzseealp.  The mountain will be on your right as you walk below the gondola. Shortly afterwards CROSS through a turnstile, following it, there is a fork in the road: BEAR RIGHT and CROSS over a small bridge and follow the higher of the two hiking trails.

2.0 km - Above the Schwarzseealp mountain railway station, the hiking trail joins a gravel path. TURN RIGHT and ascend along the gravel path. Follow the signposts for the Panoramaweg

3.1 km - On the left, there is a log cabin, behind it you can see the Schwarzensee Lake below in the valley. After the Blockhütte, TURN sharply LEFT to the Parsenhütte and continue to follow the Panoramaweg. Leave the gravel trail and continue descending on a narrow hiking trail (please note that this is also a trail for mountain bikers). After 100 meters, CROSS a wire bridge over a stream. After the bridge, ascend on the trail past an electric fence.

3.6 km - Reach a wooden mountain hut with a small water spring to the right. This is a  great spot for a picnic, with breathtaking views.

4.0 km - At the fork in the road, CONTINUE on the hiking trail, BEAR RIGHT as the trail ascends and continue to follow the Panoramaweg sign. To your left, there is a large sign with city names and the distances to them. Follow the trail through the meadows, CONTINUE straight over a gravel intersection along the Panoramaweg.

4.1 km - Leave the narrow path, as it reaches a gravel road. TURN RIGHT and follow the ascending trail to the Parsennhütte. Caution: You are walking over a scree field, over which meltwater flows down. If there is too much water, you can walk up the mountain on the parallel gravel road.

4.8 km - Reach a fork in the road,  CONTINUE STRAIGHT here and follow the path.

5.3 km - Reach the Parsennhütte (on your left). CONTINUE STRAIGHT to the signpost.

5.7 km - The signpost is on a larger gravel road from which several paths lead. The Parsennhütte is behind you. Take the path to the LEFT here onto the unpaved hiking trail in the direction of the Strehlerpass Seehorn Höhenweg. PASS a turnstile.

8.0 km - CROSS a bridge made of grooved sheet metal on wood. The mountain railway is to your left at the next crossing – CONTINUE STRAIGHT, under the mountain railway ropes. BEAR LEFT at the next fork and follow the sign to Davos Dorf. Caution: The bridge is stable, but drops slightly on the right. Therefore, there is a risk of slipping when wet.

8.1 km - There is an unpaved crossing of a glacier stream here. If the stream has too much water in it, go back a few meters and cross it a little higher up. Roughly 150 meters upstream, you can safely cross the stream and walk down back to the original path.

9.0 km – Reach a fork in the road. BEAR RIGHT and continue your ascent. Follow the path to the Davos mountain railway station.

10.6 km - ARRIVE at the Davos mountain railway station, where you will catch your train down to Davos Dorf (village)

Ausrüstung

Such is the way of Alpine hiking, that you need to be prepared for all seasons and weathers; sturdy hiking boots, warm clothes and a waterproof/wind-break layer are all required, as is plenty of sun-cream and a healthy respect for the sun.

Walking poles will be a big advantage on some of these ascents and descents.

Ensure your phone is fully charged; if you doubt the battery will last throughout the hike, it might be beneficial to bring a power bank.

This walk is isolated with few opportunities to buy food or water so be sure to bring enough with you.
