Coverack to Porthallow
On this short section from Coverack, pass through a quarry and to divert away from the coast then to the official halfway point of the entire South West Coast Path at Porthallow.
Set off inland through Dean Quarry where igneous "gabbro" rock is mined. Wonderful cliff-top walking takes you along the path with views across to the Manacles Reef. The reef lies very close to the shipping lanes from Falmouth, where many lives have been lost and ships wrecked. From here reach the former fishing villages of Porthoustock and Porthallow.

It should be said that the South West Coast Path is made up of largely coastal and cliffside walking and is not suitable for anyone suffering from vertigo or fear of heights. Take your time and great care when walking along the smaller cliff-side edged paths and be extra vigilant when walking in the rain or strong winds. Since the weather often changes rapidly in these areas, it can be difficult to predict so always check the weather ahead of time and be prepared.
At some sections on the trail you may have to pass other walkers on these cliffside paths - take your time, take great care and attention and pass safely.
