Jim - I’ll jump in here. We just completed the TMB and returned home Wednesday. Absolutely no concerns with Covid while in Europe. You must wear masks in certain settings but we did not find it to be inappropriate or oppressive and it did not impact our enjoyment. The hard part was getting accurate information on what was required to travel before we left. It all boiled down to a passport and vaccination card to get into Germany and Switzerland and a passport and negative Covid test to return. That’s it. We did fill out an addition form for Switzerland online and they gave us a response that we printed out but never had to show it to anyone. We didn’t even have to go through customs in Switzerland! Once in Switzerland, there were absolutely no checks and we moved freely between countries. As everyone says, things can change but that was our experience. Happy to answer any more questions.
We were so lucky. Rain predicted every day but we ended up with perfect hiking weather every day but one. Storms overnight or or early but then clearing during the day. Rain the day we hiked from Champex to Trient but we took the Alp Bovine alternative and completed the hike. Stopped at refuge Alp Bovine and that turned out to be a trip highlight with warm and inviting and wonderful food with friends we had met while hiking throughout the week.
